“We don’t have much contact” – Aston Villa not often in touch with own loan player
by Sport Witness · Sport WitnessMany Premier League clubs now have loan departments which look after players they’ve sent temporarily elsewhere. That’s especially useful for youngsters to keep an eye on their development, and offer any support and advice which may be necessary.
However, when the player involved is older and being edged out, that’s not really needed as much. And that would all explain why Aston Villa haven’t been keeping in close contact with Leander Dendoncker.
The 30-year-old moved to RSC Anderlecht on loan for the current season, and failed to really impress for much of it. Things have improved at the business end and the defensive midfielder has scored twice in the club’s past two play-off games.
Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League splits towards the end of the campaign, with the top six teams then playing in a mini-league for the title.
Dendoncker said at the weekend that he’s not sure what will happen in the summer. He followed that up by saying Aston Villa are pretty much leaving him to get on with his life.
Voetbal Primeur quote him as saying, when asked about Villa contact: “It happens when I have a minor injury that they ask how I’m doing. But otherwise we don’t have much contact. I still have one year of contract. We’ll see what happens.”
