Agents blamed for latest transfer drama – Aston Villa still laughing at transfer fee
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessThe ongoing transfer drama around Douglas Luiz is the blame of his agents, who have already secured a fee that left Aston Villa laughing.
That’s according to an editorial from Tony Damascelli in Il Giornale, relayed via Area Napoli, who is very unimpressed by the agent games being played in Italy.
Luiz finds himself in the firing line this week after failing to turn up for Juventus training. He had not been given permission to do so, unlike others in the squad.
The Brazilian is now facing disciplinary action and appears to have burned all of his bridges at the Italian club.
He is determined to leave Juventus after a miserable year at the club following a €50m move from Aston Villa last summer.
Everton, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and West Ham United have all been credited with an interest and the midfielder’s agent is believed to be in England drumming up suitors and working on a deal.
Juventus are currently open to sanctioning a loan deal but want at least €30m to be included in an obligation to buy next summer. No clubs have offered that as yet, with Everton believed to have offered €30m all in to date.
The failure to turn up to training has been seen as a ploy to push Juventus along and sanction a deal they don’t want. Like many, Damascelli isn’t impressed.
“Koopmeiners’ medical certificate in Bergamo, Osimhen’s, who skipped Napoli’s training camp, Lookman’s mental health issues spread over two summers, other cases of medical malpractice, Perisic and his sudden toothache, Bernardeschi depressed in Florence, Niang dejected at Milanello,” he explained.
“Lastly, Douglas Luiz didn’t show up to the Juventus training camp, even though he rarely showed up to the Bianconeri’s matches, despite his €5 million salary and the €50 million generously paid by the club to the English club Aston Villa, who are still laughing and counting the money.
“Let no one think the blame lies exclusively with the players; they are simply objects, and no longer subjects, of their agents, a lineage that has ruined football, as Vujadin Boskov had already predicted and which other true football men repeat.
“Douglas Luiz has followed the team’s orders. He hopes to go to the showdown and then slip away, like Vlahovic and other Serie A players.
“Meanwhile, Juventus has fined and dropped the Brazilian, reviving habits that disappeared in recent years, during which Andrea Agnelli’s friendship prevailed over the corporate rigor of the best of times, experienced and imposed by his father and uncle, when Juventus had more than the Ten Commandments.”
