Agent set for UK trip – Aim to tempt to Newcastle United or Chelsea into €70m purchase

Newcastle United and Chelsea want to sign Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel in the summer window.

That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who state Newcastle and Chelsea have included the 27-year-old in their wish list.

They state the stopper’s agent is expected to make a trip to the UK to hold talks with both the Blues and Eddie Howe’s side.

These discussions are to take place next week as the report explains several meetings are scheduled in the coming days. The Premier League duo can understand the conditions needed to try and sign Kobel in the upcoming window.

The Switzerland international has a contract until 2028, but he can change clubs after this season.

Fussball Transfers state the stopper would seriously consider a move if Dortmund fail to qualify for the Champions League. They add his club are valuing him around €70m, which obviously feels on the high side.

BVB have 45 points from 30 games and are currently seventh in the table, trailing fourth placed RB Leipzig by four points.

Meanwhile, Newcastle and Chelsea are also battling to qualify for the Champions League. The Magpies are fifth, two points ahead.

Newcastle and Chelsea are likely to wait until the end of the season before making any serious advances to sign Kobel, even if the agent manages to tempt them,
