Crystal Palace target might want to think twice about Selhurst Park move

Crystal Palace manager target Jose Bordalás might want to think twice about a potential move to Selhurst Park this summer.

That’s at least if the latest from Super Deporte is anything to by. They explain his frustration at current club Getafe, which sounds very similar to Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace.

The Austrian is set to leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season. He announced last week that he would be departing at the end of his contract.

His exit comes following a falling out with Palace’s management over transfers. He was left annoyed by the decision to sell Marc Guehi to Manchester City. That followed Eberechi Eze’s departure in the summer, and a perceived lack of effort to secure replacements.

Bordalás has been named as a leading candidate to replace him since last month. He was first named as a leading candidate. He’s since been sending various messages about the potential job move over the last month.

The claims seem to have been coming from his camp, but he might want a serious think about it. Why? Because his frustrations at Getafe sound very familiar.

Getafe frustrations may be similar to Crystal Palace

According to Super Deporte, Bordalás is ‘visibly frustrated’ at the Spanish club because of difficulties strengthening the squad.

Getafe have financial difficulties and can’t register players, limiting what Bordalás can do. He now believes he is competing with a clear disadvantage given direct opponents can manage to strengthen. He, on the other hand, has to improvise solutions as injuries mount up.

Sound familiar? Those complaints are eerily similar to the ones Glasner has been making at Crystal Palace for a while. They may be making money on players at the minute, but they’re hardly going to become big spenders in the near future.

While a Premier League job sounds the dream, Bordalás may find Selhurst Park is not quite the dreamscape he imagines it to be. He can just ask Glasner on that one.
