‘Full speed ahead’ – Liverpool and Arsenal trying to sign player causes panic
by Kaustubh Pandey · Sport WitnessEarlier in December, TuttoSport reported on Liverpool emerging as a competitor to Arsenal in the chase for Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz.
Talk around the Turkey international was growing, as the Bianconeri were struggling to hand him a new deal. The 20-year-old was looking to become one of the highest paid players at the club, but this was a problem to the Italian giants.
Today’s TuttoSport reports some developments.
The newspaper state Arsenal and Liverpool have monitored Yildiz constantly over the past few months. This has now panicked Juve into coming close to meeting the talent’s wage demands.
They are going ‘full speed ahead’ in the renewal and are ready to offer €6m per season in a new deal, a figure likely to be after tax. The previous offer stood at €4.5m per season and now there is belief that the increased wages will convince Yildiz.
It’s claimed that phone calls from clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal have arrived for the youngster in recent weeks. This is largely because of how he has impressed under Luciano Spalletti, but things are working in Juve’s favour.
They can now also offer an extra bonus to the player to convince his father-agent, a step which appears to be key. They are expecting him to sign a new deal that will run until 2031.
