Wolves have transfer problem brewing – Bad news arrives as player searches for club

by · Sport Witness

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Saša Kalajdžić is unlikely to have any prospects with the Premier League side next season.

The striker arrived at Molineux from VfB Stuttgart in August 2022. He managed six goals and two assists from 18 games in his final season with the Bundesliga side as a shoulder injury limited his playing time.

Kalajdžić suffered a serious injury blow on his debut for Wolves. This saw him miss the rest of the 2022/23 season as he was on the sidelines for 275 days.

Since regaining full fitness, he didn’t have a prominent role at Wolves, limited to 282 minutes from 13 matches. The English club allowed him to join Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2024.

However, his return to Germany ended shortly after another serious injury blow in April 2024. The Austria international ended up spending over 430 days away from the pitch.

Last summer, Wolves sent him on loan to LASK, and the move hasn’t worked out well so far. He’s scored two goals and contributed two assists from 18 matches, of which a goal and an assist were in the cup.

He has a XG of 5.1 and XA of 2.13 and created four big chances and missed 10 so far at LASK.

Future away from Wolves

Earlier in the season, the frontman said his focus is get his fitness and career back on track at LASK. He has managed to stay fit but hasn’t really impressed on the pitch on his return to his country.

As things stand, the player will have to return to Rob Edwards’ side, after his loan spell.

According to Südwest 24, he doesn’t seem to have a future at Wolves, who are bottom of the Premier League table. They are likely to be relegated and Kalajdžić is unlikely to have a future with them in the Championship.

With the Austrian lining up for summer exit, he has to find a club who will bet on him.

Situation concerning for PL side

Südwest 24 suggest it’s best for him to return to Germany but make no mention of his possible options for the summer.

Kalajdžić struggling in Austria is a concern for Wolves for several reasons. LASK won’t be making his stay permanent and he’ll return to Molineux, where he has a contract until 2027.

Transfermarkt valued him at €22m, after he moved to England. Since then, it has been in free-fall, dropping to €11m in December 2023. It was €4m in May 2025 and dropped further to €2m.

His value, contract situation, injury history and performances won’t let Wolves earn a decent fee in the summer.
