Aston Villa arrival ‘difficult to achieve’ – Desire to make it happen

by · Sport Witness

Aston Villa knocked Tottenham Hotspur out of the FA Cup on Saturday, with a 2-1 away victory at Spurs.

Emi Buendia and Morgan Rogers scored the goals for Unai Emery’s side, and that sees them safely into the next round of the competition. Aston Villa will want to make the most of their level this season and competitions such as the FA Cup and Europa League provide a real trophy chance.

Currently third in the Premier League, Emery’s men will be wanting to secure a top four finish as well, and that may require January additions. Whilst the money won’t be thrown around at Villa Park as it will at some other clubs, value signings can be targeted.

Aston Villa have agreed a deal to take 16-year-old Brian Madjo from FC Metz, although he’s one for the future.

Sunday’s edition of Marca brings back the Conor Gallagher transfer possibility, and explains Atlético Madrid’s stance.

The Madrid club are trying to send Giacomo Raspadori to AS Roma, but he’s dithering over accepting the transfer. Roma are pushing and could soon walk away if he doesn’t quickly agree.

Meanwhile, Atlético need further exits to make room for incomings, and Gallagher to Aston Villa is one of their chances. Should Raspadori say no or force Roma to walk away, then the Gallagher situation becomes more important.

Aston Villa could get good deal via pressure

Marca state Gallagher can leave for ‘around €30m’, which makes it sound like he could go for a little less. Negotiations may be able to bring Aston Villa a deal at a lower level, especially if the Raspadori situation drags on.

Atlético Madrid have been throwing around that €30m figure for a while and no club has bitten. Therefore, Unai Emery’s side could be encouraged to go lower and add potential bonuses.

As it stands, Marca believe the €30m transfer is ‘difficult to achieve’, but circumstances could change that. Los Rojiblancos appear to have a desire to make it happen, although not a desperation.

Conor Gallagher has made 27 appearances for Atlético Madrid so far this season, but most of those appearances have been as a substitute. Whether Aston Villa can offer better would be key, especially with the World Cup on the horizon.
