Approval to Manchester United transfer – Negotiation games being played
by Kaustubh Pandey · Sport WitnessManchester United have been linked with a move for AS Roma’s Manu Kone, however the player could have other ideas.
The Frenchman has been one of the Giallorossi’s most important players over the past two seasons. Due to UEFA FFP concerns, there were suggestions he could depart before the end of June.
Sport Witness covered how Arsenal stepped forward for his signature, initiating contact with his entourage. They didn’t go any further and Roma had to negotiate a settlement agreement with UEFA
Manchester United have been linked and yesterday it was reported in Italy that Kone has approved the transfer.
Contradicting claims
Today’s Il Tempo carry important details about possible Roma exits. Neil El Aynaoui has attracted interest from English clubs but it is Kone who is the biggest candidate to depart this summer.
Manchester United’s interest gets a mention.
While Kone has expressed an openness to a move to Old Trafford, Il Tempo say he’s PSG approach him. However, they don’t say he would snub United to wait for the French club.
It’s not the first time PSG have been dragged into this transfer mini-saga, but it’s almost all been pushed from Italy. That would suggest, it could be Roma pushing the PSG threat to the media, in order to pressure other clubs.
Such a scenario isn’t unusual in football transfers, but if Manchester United want to get serious then perhaps they need to do so soon.
