Manchester City step up right-back search – Bosnian youngster monitored after positive scout reports
by Pedro Reinert · Sport WitnessManchester City are being linked with Amar Dedić in reports coming out of Bosnia, with Sport1 claiming Pep Guardiola’s side have taken a closer look at the Benfica defender.
According to the Bosnian outlet, City scouts have tracked Dedić closely in recent months. They have already sent several positive reports directly to Guardiola.
The right-back position remains under review at the Etihad following Kyle Walker’s departure. Rico Lewis has featured there but has not fully nailed down the role. Meanwhile, Matheus Nunes continues to be viewed internally as a midfielder.
Sport1 explain that Dedić fits the profile Manchester City are looking for. Scouts reportedly rate his attacking contribution highly, especially his ability to push forward during transitions. His pace and comfort carrying the ball from defence into counter-attacks have stood out. That tactical flexibility has helped place him firmly on City’s shortlist.
Dedić joined Benfica last summer and adapted quickly to Portuguese football. He has become a regular option in the squad and recently completed another full 90-minute performance. The defender is under contract until 2030, which strengthens Benfica’s negotiating position.
Sport1 claim City expect a high price for the defender. Club scouts estimates a range between £43m and £51m (€50m–€60m), reflecting his long-term deal and rapid progression.
The report adds that Manchester City initially planned to revisit the situation after the season. Even so, a January move has not been fully ruled out.
