‘Prefers the Premier League’ – Crystal Palace and Bournemouth manager boost, things are moving
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessCrystal Palace and Bournemouth have been handed a boost in their potential efforts for Dino Toppmöller, as he prefers a move to the Premier League.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that ‘things are moving’ for the 45-year-old ahead of the summer.
Crystal Palace plans
Crystal Palace are seemingly planning behind the scenes for when Oliver Glasner leaves Selhurst Park at the end of the season. Bournemouth also need a new coach as Andoni Iraola is set to depart as well.
Reports have named various managers as being on their shortlists as they plan for life after their coaches. Dino Toppmöller is one of the names on both lists.
Sacha Tavolieri now reports that the German is on Crystal Palace and Bournemouth’s lists to replace Glasner and Iraola. And, more importantly, ‘things are moving’ around the German coach.
According to his information, the Cherries have ‘made enquiries’ about Toppmöller. There is also competition from VfL Wolfsburg. But, crucially, Toppmöller ‘prefers the Premier League’. That gives Bournemouth and Crystal Palace the advantage.
Free agent status
Dino Toppmöller is currently a free agent after leaving Eintracht Frankfurt in the middle of January. He had been here since July 2023, taking charge of 121 games with a 1.55 points per game record.
That was his first managerial role after spells as assistant manager at Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig previously.
It’s questionable, then, whether Bournemouth and Crystal Palace would risk offering him his first chance outside of Germany.
The two, though, appear to be keen on the 45-year-old. It’s another link between the pair as the managerial merry-go-round looks to be fierce this summer. Sport Witness reported this week that Palace had made overtures to Andoni Iraola.
Now they could be set for battle over Toppmöller, adding another twist to already convoluted and developing saga.
