Sunderland are set to sign youngster Adil Aouchiche on loan to Portsmouth until the end of the season.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that the 22-year-old midfielder is set to move to the Championship strugglers in search of regular playing time.

Aouchiche has only managed 674 minutes across 12 appearances for Sunderland this season and has been sat on the bench for their last three games against Burnley, Derby County and Plymouth Argyle.

He would prefer to be somewhere with more playing time on the table and according to FM’s information, he is set to head to Portsmouth for the rest of the season.

He will join them on loan for six months, with only the final few details needing to be sorted between Sunderland and Portsmouth.

The youngster wants the opportunity to show himself in a different setting, with John Mousinho’s side currently sat 21st in the Championship table but level on points with Stoke and Hull in 20th and 19th respectively.

Pompey will be hoping the midfielder can boost their options, with Aouchiche seemingly keen on the move and negotiations now in the final stages.
