“I’m team Slot” – Ryder Cup hero and Liverpool fanatic wades into managerial debate
by Sport Witness · Sport WitnessRyder Cup hero Ludvig Åberg has told the Swedish media he still believes in Liverpool manager Arne Slot.
Slot’s Premier League winning side have struggled for form this season and look out of the title race.
A self-confessed Liverpool fanatic, Åberg was asked by SportBladet about the Anfield boss and doubts swirling around him.
“I’m team Slot’ I think he did so well last year, so I would never want to complain about him. It’s a results industry and if the results do not hold, questions will be asked,” said Åberg.
Ludvig Åberg was also asked by Sportbladet about his compatriot Alexander Isak, after he suffered a leg fracture.
The 26-year-old is currently sidelined after picking up a serious injury against Tottenham Hotspur last month. The Swedish golfer believes it’s a cruel blow for his compatriot, because he was just getting into form.
However, the 26-year-old believes the Liverpool striker will come back stronger when he does return to action.
“Very sad. It felt like he got off to a bit of a start with goals against West Ham and goals against Tottenham away. Sad, but I think he will come back stronger and be really good,” said the golf star.
Ludvig Åberg and all of Sweden want Isak back for WC play-offs
Arriving from Newcastle United in the summer for a Premier League transfer fee, Isak has struggled to find form.
Due mainly to a lack of pre-season training the Sweden international failed to hit the ground running, failing to score in his first five league games.
Isak finally scored his first Liverpool goal in their 2-0 victory over West Ham United. He followed this up with the opener against Spurs.
It may be a long shot, but Ludvig Åberg and all of Sweden will hope the player can return for the World Cup play-offs.
