Crystal Palace will be pushed towards €30m – First Eagles offer rejected

by · Sport Witness

Crystal Palace have seen an offer worth around €20m rejected for Sidiki Chérif and may need at least €10m more to get him.

That’s according to Ouest France. They report that Crystal Palace have been unsuccessful with their first bid for the 19-year-old.

According to their information, the Premier League club made an opening bid of around €20m for Angers’ top goalscorer. This included bonuses. It was rejected by the French club’s management.

They want more, having previously agreed a paid loan with Paris FC. This included a mandatory purchase clause of €22m and €7m in bonuses. Sidiki, though, refused to join them.

He prefers to join Crystal Palace, with whom he has already reached contractual agreement. They, though, are yet to get close enough to Angers’ asking price.

Angers won’t want to give Crystal Palace discount

Given Angers had agreed that package with Paris FC then they’re hardly going to be keen on less. That’s especially from a Premier League club, with the finances in English football.

The Eagles have been working on a deal since Christmas day. A report then said it would cost around €25-30m and it hasn’t changed from there.

Indeed, Angers expect it to happen too given their manager has admitted as much. And the fact the Cherif agreed a deal to depart already is a bonus in Crystal Palace’s plans.

They, though, appear to be far away from what Angers want at this moment in time. They’re going to have to dig deeper than they current are to get the striker in this month.

This transfer looks like a club idea at Crystal Palace given Oliver Glasner announced his exit on Friday. The Austrian coach explained he’d told his club months ago about his plan to leave at the end of the season, when his Eagles contract expires.
