From Portugal: Viktor Gyökeres to travel from Mallorca and start Arsenal medical today

Friday’s Portuguese newspapers were telling the same of the past few days, despite claims that Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal had been finalised, there were still legal and contractual issues pending and no permission to travel had been given.

The Sporting CP player has been sunning himself in Mallorca having refused to turn up for preseason training with the Portuguese club. After feeling that verbal assurances were reneged on, the striker’s camp initially threatened to produce proof and when that didn’t happen the next step was going AWOL.

Record, who have been excellent throughout this saga, now report Viktor Gyökeres has been given the permission to travel after the final details were sorted out. He’s flying from Mallorca to London and starting his medical with Arsenal today, before going through the second half of those tests on Saturday.

According to the Portuguese newspaper, official confirmation of the agreement is now expected from both clubs, and that will include Sporting revealing at least some of the financial details.
