Manchester City and Leeds United locked in transfer domino match

by · Sport Witness

Marseille goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli’s arrival at Manchester City is key for Torino to sign Leeds United’s Lucas Perri this summer.

Last week, Sport Witness covered claims from France that Manchester City have reached an agreement with the 34-year-old. The former have made a €2m bid while the Ligue 1 side are requesting €3.5m. Despite the gap, there’s optimism of a total agreement.

Manchester City’s James Trafford will leave for Leeds United. The parties have agreed to terms, and the Whites are waiting for his arrival to let Perri join Torino.

Trafford’s desire to leave has seen the Citizens look for a new stopper and this is where the Argentina international comes into the picture.

Leeds United man awaiting Manchester City arrival

Last week, we relayed news Lucas Perri could travel to Italy over the weekend to join the Turin club, but that didn’t happen.

Foot Mercato claim Gerónimo Rulli is blocking the Leeds United player’s arrival at Torino.

The latter have an agreement in principle with both Daniel Farke’s side and the 28-year-old Brazilian.

The parties are yet to finalise the operation administratively and Torino have to be patient for his arrival.

Manchester City to start domino effect

Foot Mercato states: ‘The reason the transfer is still taking so long to officially announce is solely due to a classic domino effect affecting the goalkeeper market.’

Torino are waiting for Enzo Maresca’s side to complete Gerónimo Rulli’s signing. This will see them sanction James Trafford’s move to Leeds United, who in turn will let Lucas Perri join the Serie A side.

The Italian club are calm because it’s a matter of timing rather than their negotiations with Leeds United or Perri.

According to the report, the goalkeeper domino effect could take place this week, barring any late twist. In short, Manchester City could sign Rulli this week.

The Argentine, who was the No.1 at Marseille, will provide cover and competition for Gianluigi Donnarumma at Manchester City.
