West Ham want €15-18m in permanent sale – Hammers risk pushing too far

by · Sport Witness

West Ham are looking for a permanent deal to let Luis Guilherme join Sporting in January. After being approached about a loan move, the Hammers have been standing firm with their demands.

That’s clashed with Sporting’s intention to take the 19-year-old on an initial loan deal. Essentially, the Portuguese club want a try-before-buy option and West Ham would prefer otherwise.

Talks had been progressing, with Sporting bending a little towards Hammers demands. However, Portuguese newspaper Record make it clear West Ham are being ‘difficult’, at least from a Sporting perspective.

As a compromise, Sporting have proposed a loan with an obligation to buy, based on certain individual achievements. West Ham want the triggers to be easy to achieve, too easy for Sporting.

Hammers risk pushing Sporting too far

West Ham are looking to make €15-18m from the transfer, via easy to achieve triggers for a permanent transfer. That’s after the Hammers paid more than €20m to sign him from Palmeiras in 2024.

There doesn’t appear to be any panic at Sporting. The club see Luis Guilherme as a market opportunity if they can agree a good deal with West Ham.

The Premier League club face the danger of pushing the Lisbon side too much and losing a deal.
