Club’s ‘coffers are trembling’ at Crystal Palace transfer idea – ‘Financial blow’ may be on the way
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessCrystal Palace’s potential idea to send Christantus Uche back to Getafe is not going down well at the Spanish club.
That’s according to COPE. They report that ‘fear grips Getafe’ at the idea of Uche returning. Why? Because they desperately need the €20m fee included in the loan deal.
Reports this week have indicated that Uche could depart Crystal Palace in January. He’s on loan with the Eagles but has barely featured this season. And that means a €20m clause which becomes an obligation if he plays a certain amount of games, is unlikely to be met.
It absolutely won’t be if Crystal Palace cancel the loan deal. And reports this week have indicated that both they and Uche are open to doing just that.
That’s bad news for Getafe. According to COPE, their ‘coffers are trembling’ at the idea. That’s because president Ángel Torres used the €20m in the loan deal to ‘balance his books’. That figure was ‘crucial’ to doing so.
It even allowed them to make six late additions in the summer transfer window. If they don’t actually receive it, it’s not ‘encouraging’ for Getafe. Any return would be a ‘financial blow’. Although it would be welcomed by manager Jose Bordalás.
His squad would be bolstered by a player he didn’t want to lose in the first place. But the financial issues would outweigh that considerably.
