Belief key Tottenham starter can be signed for just €20m – Panic sees club turn to Spurs

Guglielmo Vicario has endured a difficult season at Tottenham Hotspur.

While he has made some important saves, the Italian has been criticised for high-profile errors. His lack of ability on the ball has come to the fore, with fans’ perception about him now changing.

His reaction a mistake earlier this season, when he appeared to blame teammates, didn’t go down too well with many Spurs supporters.

Gazzetta dello Sport reported in December that the Tottenham player wants to leave in the summer. He was said to be fed up on the instability at the club, with Inter Milan keen on signing him.

L’Interista today report about the Nerazzurri’s goalkeeping situation. They note that there is some panic at the San Siro about Yann Sommer’s poor form in this campaign.

He’s made prominent errors and also struggled against Napoli at the weekend, playing a role in the 2-2 draw. The Switzerland international is quickly losing confidence at the club and this is again leading to Vicario’s situation at Tottenham catching the eye of Inter.

Inter may be undervaluing Tottenham player

There is belief that a fee of €20m can seal the deal for Cristian Chivu’s side. A desperate need is being felt for the Italy international, who has experience of Serie A from his time at Empoli.

The 29-year-old’s current salary at Tottenham is well within Inter’s reach. This can help in a move, with the summer seen as the right time to sign him.

In the meantime, the Serie A league leaders want to use Josip Martinez between the sticks. This can help them settle things down before landing Vicario.

That €20m may not be quite enough for Tottenham, given the goalkeeper’s contract lasts until June 2028. Such a situation gives Spurs some negotiation room and they’d want to push the amount higher.

Inter Milan now need to prepare their move.
