Manchester United and Liverpool ‘tempting’ midfielder – Ideal for both – €1bn release clause
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessManchester United and Liverpool have their eyes set on Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni for the summer, with the former being repeatedly linked recently.
The France international joined the La Liga side from AS Monaco for €70m plus €10m bonuses in June 2022.
Prior to this move, Liverpool showed keen interest but lost the battle to Real Madrid in the end. At that time, Sport Witness covered claims from France that the Reds wanted to make a bid.
The Merseyside club have now returned for the midfielder and face a potential battle with Manchester United.
He has been a regular for the La Liga side in recent years and played 3,379 minutes from 39 matches this season.
His La Liga stats per game this season are as follows:
- Interceptions: 1.3
- Tackles: 2.2
- Possession won (final third): 0.3
- Balls recovered: 4.7
- Clearances: 1.7
- Blocked shots: 0.4
- Ground duels won: 3.1
- Aerial duels won: 2.3
Manchester United and Liverpool keen
Aurélien Tchouaméni’s impressive performances for Real Madrid this season have clearly not gone unnoticed.
That’s according to Wednesday’s edition of Sport, who name both Manchester United and Liverpool as his suitors.
The Premier League duo view the defensive midfielder as an ‘ideal piece to reinforce their midfield’.
Therefore, the Red Devils and Arne Slot’s side are tempting him for a summer move. To do this, the two clubs are considering important offers, without any mention of figures.
Los Blancos, on the other hand, aren’t willing to sell and instead, want to offer the star a three-year extension.
Another Spanish newspaper, Marca, makes no mention of Liverpool, Manchester United or any other club. However, they have a report on his growth and Real Madrid’s plans.
Tchouaméni has received support from every Real Madrid manager he has played under so far. Taking his development and performances this season account, the Spanish giants consider him non-transferable.
This would make Manchester United and Liverpool’s attempt to tempt him complicated in the summer.
Contract, value and agent info
Aurélien Tchouaméni will have two years left on his contract after the season and could receive a new contract from Real Madrid.
Transfermarkt now value him at €75m, €25m less than his highest value in June 2024. He is represented by French agency Excellence Sport Nation, who also manage Manchester United’s Bryan Mbeumo.
The Frenchman has a €1bn release clause, and obviously. no club will trigger that.
