Birmingham City: August Priske’s father backs January transfer
by Sport Witness · Sport WitnessAugust Priske to Birmingham City continues to rumble on in the Swedish media. The striker’s transfer from Djurgårdens IF to the Championship club was first pushed in Denmark.
Given the 21-year-old striker is Danish and plays for a Swedish club in the Allsvenskan, that the story was coming from Denmark was revealing. The youngster’s agent is also Danish and the Birmingham City claims were clearly coming from that end of a deal.
In the few days that have passed since, not an awful lot has happened. Priske was immediately pulled out of Djurgårdens IF training when the transfer story broke. He then missed a pre-season friendly which was held at the end of the week against IF Brommapojkarna.
Djurgårdens IF sporting director Bosse Andersson has been speaking on a daily basis since. However, he’s said a lot of words without really saying anything at all.
Now Brian Priske, August’s father, has spoken to the Danish media.

His managerial career has also been varied. Priske Sr. started off at FC Midtjylland, and then went to Royal Antwerp, Sparta Prague and Feyenoord. He won two Czech leagues and the cup during his first Sparta spell and is now back in Prague for a second go at it all.
Brian Priske quizzed due to Birmingham City transfer swoop
Speaking to Denmark’s Campo, who will have contacted him due to the Birmingham City reports, Brian Priske said: “It’s great that he can take the next step. It was close this summer, and he’s just had an even better season now. It would be completely natural if it happens now.
“He really loves Djurgården, and he has some fantastic teammates and friends. And it’s not just for a short period. It’s for life, I’m sure.
“And at the same time, his sports manager Bosse Andersson has meant an incredible amount to August. If a great transfer is successful now, they – his teammates and Bosse – will be very proud of him, and they have been fantastic.”
A nice piece of diplomacy there, but it’s apparent the Priske family are ready for the transfer.
