Warning: Huge spoilers for The Witcher season 4 ahead.
Over the course of eight episodes, The Witcher season 4 has changed the Netflix franchise for good.
After Geralt (now played by Liam Hemsworth), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Ciri (Freya Allen) were separated after the fallout of the Battle of Aretuza, the show's storyline has been on a quest to bring them back together.
There's a lot of obstacles standing between each of them and that end goal, though. Ciri, fed up of everyone after her for their own gain, has renounced her powers and assumed the pseudonym of Falka, joining outcast group The Rats to steal, pillage and cause chaos wherever they land.
Yennefer's got her hands full with personally going after the unhinged villain Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu), who equally has his sights set on demolishing what's left of Montecalvo in order to find Ciri. She tries to reunite what's left of the Aretuza sisterhood to do this, including getting on the good side of distant Elf Queen Francesca (Mecia Simson).
Meanwhile, the new Geralt has amassed a rag-tag following known as the Hanza, including OG bard Jaskier (Joey Batey), wise vampire Regis (Laurence Fishburne) and former Nilfgaard knight Cahir (Eamon Farren). They're going after Emhyr var Emreis (Bart Edwards) after hearing he's locked Ciri up to wed her. Really, it's freed mage Teryn (Frances Pooley) in her place.
That's the basic context you need heading into the final events of The Witcher season 4, but the ending still needs some explaining. Allow me to do the honors so my hours of head-scratching while watching it don't go to waste.
