Strictly star Chris Robshaw is married to a famous singer

Chris Robshaw is one of this year’s celebrity contestants on Strictly Come Dancing.

The sports star is no stranger to trophies as he is a very successful England rugby union player and captain.

However, he isn’t the only famous name in his household as his wife is a successful singer.

Here’s everything you need to know about his life away from the pitch and dance floor.

Rugby career

Chris is a former England rugby union player and captain, with 66 caps for England. He captained the national team 43 times, leading them to a Six Nations Grand Slam victory in 2016.

He also made 18 appearances for the San Diego Legion from 2021 to 2022, before announcing his retirement in October 2022.

In a statement shared on social media at the time, Chris said: "After 18 years of professional rugby and a career I could only have dreamt of, I am officially announcing my retirement from the great game.

"Following three dislocated shoulders in quick succession, my body has told me to blow the final whistle."

Famous wife Camilla Kerslake

Chris is married to singer Camilla Kerslake, who is known for being a classical crossover singer and the first person to ever be signed to Take That star Gary Barlow’s record label. She has released two studio albums, performed on the West End and even sang for the late Queen.

Chris and Camilla met back in 2011 when they were both in their early 20s - and it is said to have been “love at first sight”.

The couple met at a charity rugby event in 2011 and the sportsman reportedly asked for her number within two minutes of meeting.

"My manager who was with me said I shouldn't give it to him,” Camilla revealed to the Mail on Sunday. “I said, 'Of course I will. Just look at him, he's gorgeous.' But it took a month before we met. We decided to be monogamous straight away."

They got engaged in 2012 but only revealed the news in 2014.

In June 2018, the couple tied the knot at Chelsea Old Town Hall in London, before having a reception three days later at Le Preverger, a chateau in Cote D'Azur, France.

Together with Chris, Camilla also runs the Kerslake Robshaw Foundation, which offers education and career support for young people from less privileged backgrounds.

The pair aren’t worried about the Strictly curse, with Camilla even saying watching Chris on the BBC show makes her more attracted to him.

“I love watching Chris on Strictly. I know he was so nervous on the first night but it was amazing to see him doing something that’s so out of his comfort zone,” she told The Sun. “But the thing I’m most thankful for is the training. It’s loosened up my husband’s hips. I fancy him more than ever now.”

Children

The couple welcomed their first child in 2021, a boy called Wilding. Their second son Hunter was born in 2024.
