Chelsea To Probe Lineup Leak After Crushing PSG Defeat
by Ernest Victor · Naija NewsPremier League side, Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has confirmed the club will investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged leak of their lineup ahead of Wednesday’s 5-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Naija News reports that Chelsea suffered a bitter setback in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first-leg clash at Parc des Princes, conceding three goals in the final 16 minutes and leaving their progress in the tournament under serious threat.
Bradley Barcola put PSG ahead in the 10th minute, but Malo Gusto quickly equalised for Chelsea in the 28th. Ousmane Dembele, the reigning Ballon d’Or winner, restored PSG’s lead just before halftime.
Chelsea fought back in the second half through Enzo Fernandez, who scored in the 57th minute. However, a costly error from goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen opened the door for Vitinha to make it 3-2. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia then sealed PSG’s dominant victory with two late strikes.
After the match, Rosenior addressed questions about the leaked lineup during his press briefing. “I wasn’t aware. I’m sure we’ll get to the bottom of that if that’s the case,” he told The Chelsea Chronicles.
Chelsea now turn their focus to Premier League action, hosting Newcastle United on Saturday before returning to face PSG in the second leg next Tuesday.
