Rio Ferdinand Tips Arsenal To Win Premier League After Liverpool’s Latest Defeat

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has backed Arsenal to lift the Premier League title this season, saying Mikel Arteta’s side are finally ready to take the crown after years of near misses.

Speaking after Manchester United’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday night, Ferdinand said the Gunners’ time has come, insisting they will not settle for second place again.

“I said before a ball was kicked this season that Arsenal, this is their chance to win the league,” Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel. “I felt they had to do it this year and couldn’t come second again.

“They have got a wonderful group of players, it’s probably the best squad in terms of depth in the league. They recruited well in the summer and found a way again against Fulham yesterday. They are my favourites to win the Premier League.”

Manchester United’s win over Liverpool, sealed by Harry Maguire’s late header, has shaken up the title race. Bryan Mbeumo gave United an early lead before Cody Gakpo equalised in the 78th minute, only for Maguire to head home the winner moments later.

The result marked Liverpool’s fourth straight defeat in all competitions and dented their hopes of defending the league title. The Reds now sit fourth, four points behind leaders Arsenal, who edged Fulham 1-0 on Saturday thanks to Leandro Trossard’s second-half strike.

Arsenal have finished runners-up three seasons in a row under Arteta, but their consistency, depth, and summer reinforcements have convinced many, including Ferdinand, that this could finally be their year.
