LA Lakers’ LeBron James To Miss Start Of Season After Sciatica Diagnosis

by · Naija News

American basketball icon, LeBron James will begin his 23rd NBA season from the sidelines after the Los Angeles Lakers confirmed he is dealing with sciatica, a nerve issue that will keep him out of action for the next three to four weeks.

LeBron James, 40, was expected to headline another campaign of record-breaking performances, but the news has slowed that momentum.

The team’s announcement followed several days of speculation after James missed practices and preseason games, sparking concern about his fitness.

What first appeared to be mild back discomfort has turned out to be a more complicated problem involving irritation of the sciatic nerve.

The condition can cause sharp pain, tingling, or weakness that travels down the leg, symptoms that can make explosive movements nearly impossible for even the most disciplined athlete.

Head coach JJ Redick made it clear that the Lakers will take no chances with their star’s health. “He’s not getting cleared until he’s ready,” Redick told reporters, stressing that the focus is on recovery rather than rushing him back onto the court.

According to multiple reports, LeBron James will likely miss the remainder of the preseason and at least the first week of regular-season games.

That means the Lakers could start the year without their main playmaker and leader, a tough blow for a team with championship ambitions in a loaded Western Conference.
