Fulham Move To Tie Down Marco Silva, Norwich Appoints Philippe Clement

Fulham have opened talks with manager Marco Silva over a new contract as they look to steady their Premier League campaign.

Marco Silva’s current deal runs out at the end of the season, and the Fulham board hope the Portuguese coach will commit his long-term future to Craven Cottage.

The 48-year-old had been frustrated with the club’s transfer dealings in the summer, accusing officials of being “passive” just before the Premier League kicked off. Fulham eventually spent around £40m on five signings.

The team have had a difficult start and sit in 15th place, only a point clear of the bottom three. Silva, who signed a three-year extension in 2023, led the club to promotion in 2022 and has kept them in the top flight since. His work has attracted interest elsewhere, with past links to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, Norwich City have turned to former Rangers boss Philippe Clement in their attempt to revive their troubled season.

The Belgian coach has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal after the club sacked Liam Manning following a 2-1 home defeat to Leicester City on November 8.

The Canaries are second from bottom in the Championship with nine points from 15 games and have lost all eight of their home fixtures in league and cup this season.

“I’ve known of this club for a long time and, whilst we are not in a good moment at this time, we are excited to work together with the players and staff to turn things around,” Clement told the club website.

“Meeting with the owners and hearing some of their ambitions for the club, it really convinced me that this is the best move.

“They have big plans for the future but, of course, our job in the short term is to turn around the current situation and get everyone believing again.”
