Galatasaray: Osimhen Missing As Napoli Unveils Pre-Season Team List
by Richard Ogunsile · Naija NewsNigerian professional footballer, Victor Osimhen, has been left out of Napoli’s pre-season team list.
This development further fuels speculation of the striker’s possible move to Turkish champions, Galatasaray.
Naija News understands that Napoli resumed pre-season activities on Monday, July 14, with returning players reporting for routine medical assessments.
However, Osimhen was not listed on the team.
Though Napoli has not issued an official statement on Osimhen’s future with the club, sources within the Italian media suggest it is connected to ongoing transfer discussions.
There have been talks between Napoli and Galatasaray, with initial offers falling short of Napoli’s valuation of the Super Eagles star.
Galatasaray’s first bid of €50 million was swiftly rejected by the Serie A side. However, the Turkish club returned with an improved offer of €70 million, a figure believed to be close to Napoli’s asking price.
According to Soccernet, sources familiar with the deal say both clubs are working on final details, and a permanent transfer appears increasingly likely.
While the Osimhen deal is still under wraps, Galatasaray appear to be preparing for his arrival.
The Turkish champions defeated Umraniyespor 5–2 in a recent pre-season match, showcasing their offensive strength as they seek to further bolster their attack.
Naia News reports that Osimhen, who joined Napoli in 2020, has been doing well for the club, helping them secure their first Serie A title in over three decades during the 2022/2023 season.
His potential switch to Galatasaray would mark one of the most high-profile transfers involving a Nigerian footballer in recent times.
