English Premier League Matchday 10 Fixtures, Kickoff Time, Paul Merson’s Predictions
by Ernest Victor · Naija NewsArsenal legend Paul Merson has made his Premier League matchday 10 predictions, backing his former club to keep their fine form going and move even closer to the title.
The Premier League weekend promises plenty of drama, with Tottenham hosting Chelsea in north London, while Liverpool face a tricky test at home against Aston Villa. Arsenal travel to Burnley looking to extend their unbeaten run, and Manchester United visit Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
Manchester City take on Bournemouth at the Etihad on Sunday, while Newcastle United clash with West Ham.
In his Sportskeeda predictions, Merson predicted the following:
Crystal Palace 2-1 Brentford
Nottingham Forest 1-1 Manchester United
Burnley 0-2 Arsenal
Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 Leeds United
Fulham 2-0 Wolves
Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Chelsea
Liverpool 1-1 Aston Villa
West Ham United 1-3 Newcastle United
Manchester City 2-1 Bournemouth
Sunderland 2-1 Everton
The former Arsenal midfielder also believes the title race could be settled sooner than many expect.
“I said on 19th September that if Arsenal get four points out of their games against Manchester City and Newcastle United, they win the league,” Merson told Sportskeeda. “Arsenal did it and I stand by what I said. In fact, the title race could be done and dusted in the next two weeks!”
He added, “They face Burnley and Sunderland before the international break, while Liverpool have Aston Villa and Manchester City. I expect Arsenal to win both those games and I’m not backing Liverpool to win this weekend. If City and Liverpool then take points off each other in gameweek 11, I think Arsenal will win the league quite comfortably.”
Arsenal are currently four points clear at the top after winning seven of their first nine league matches. Mikel Arteta’s side have also been rock-solid at the back, letting in just three goals in 14 games across all competitions.
