Felix Agu Returns To Training Ahead Of Bremen’s Mainz Test

German Bundesliga’s Werder Bremen received a timely lift ahead of their meeting with FSV Mainz after defender Felix Agu resumed full team training.

According to German outlet Deichstube, Felix Agu, 26, returned to the training pitch on Thursday after weeks on the sidelines with an adductor muscle injury.

Agu had been out since February when he picked up the problem during the pre-match warm-up before Bremen’s 2-1 defeat to FC St. Pauli.

The Nigerian defender had initially been named in the starting line-up for that match but was forced to pull out moments before kick-off.

Since then, he has been working through a structured rehabilitation programme aimed at restoring full fitness.

Naija News reports that the injury forced Agu Felix to miss the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

His return to group training represents an important step in the recovery process and provides head coach Daniel Thioune with an extra defensive option as Bremen prepare for Sunday’s home fixture.

While Agu’s comeback offers encouragement, two other Nigerian players remain unavailable.

Striker Victor Boniface is still recovering from knee surgery, while promising youngster Wesley Ade continues his rehabilitation after suffering a torn ligament.

Both players are expected to remain out for an extended period.
