NPFL Updates: Ikorodu City’s ThankGod Injured, Nasarawa United Seek Points In Lagos

by · Naija News

Ikorodu City is set to play without forward Chilaka ThankGod in their upcoming NPFL match against Nasarawa United.

ThankGod has been sidelined due to illness, which persisted during the team’s preparations for the NPFL game.

The match will take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos  at 3 p.m. today, September 28, where Ikorodu City will aim for their first win of the season, having only secured one point from three games so far.

Nasarawa United Aim For a Positive Result

Nasarawa United’s captain, King Osanga, has assured an improved performance in their upcoming match against Ikorodu City.

Just like Ikorodu City, Nasarawa are yet to secure a win in the NPFL this season. They are determined to give their all in the game and make a strong comeback following their disappointing match against El-Kanemi Warriors.

“Both the coaches and players have reviewed our last game versus El-Kanemi Warriors, identified areas for improvement, and are working hard in training ahead of subsequent challenges,” Osanga told the club’s media.

“We are confident in our abilities and ready to give it our all.”

Abia Warriors to respect Kano

Abia Warriors head coach Imama Amakpakabo has expressed concerns about the upcoming NPFL clash with Kano Pillars.

He emphasized the challenge of facing a motivated Kano Pillars side seeking to recover from a recent home loss, emphasizing the need to show respect for the opponents while also expecting the same in return.

“Every team that loses at home will want to go out in the next game to regain the lost points. Pillars is a team you will never underrate despite that home loss,” Imama said.

“We will give them their due respect; they too, I think, should also give us our due respect because they know that we need to get back to winning ways too.

“It’s going to be an exciting game. Both sides I think will want to play football so, I think it’s going to be a wonderful sight for the spectators to come and behold. I know it’s going to be an exciting game, a difficult game like any other game we’re going to play this season”.

Kabiru Dogo motivated

Nasarawa United’s Technical Director, Kabiru Dogo, has urged his players to shift their focus to their match against Ikorodu City and draw positive lessons from their previous defeat.

Dogo emphasized the team’s eagerness to showcase their capabilities and bounce back in the upcoming fixture, acknowledging the support and patience of the fans.

“We can’t continue to dwell on it,” Dogo said.

“Our focus immediately turns to our next game against Ikorodu City FC in Lagos, and we are looking forward to the opportunity to bounce back.

“We are eager to get back on the pitch and show our supporters and fans what we are capable of.

“We appreciate their patience and continued support.”
