Leinster v Harlequins team news as Leo Cullen names 13 Ireland internationals for Croke Park clash

by · Irish Mirror

Leo Cullen has selected a full-strength side for the European Champions Cup quarter-final tie with Harlequins at Croke Park (Sat, 3pm).

It is a specific vote of confidence for Ireland Six Nations internationals Robbie Henshaw and Garry Ringrose in the centre as All Black import Jordie Barrett is on the bench.

South African second-row RG Snyman has been used from the bench in all four previous Champions Cup rounds but is in to start this time, while French international Rabah Slimani starts at tighthead.

Caelan Doris captains the side, with Josh van der Flier and Jack Conan joining him in the back row. Joe McCarthy has been named in the second row alongside Snyman.

Dan Sheehan gets the nod at hooker, with Andrew Porter and Slimani the props either side of him at scrum time.

Sam Prendergast has been named at 10 with Jamison Gibson-Park his half-back partner at Croke Park.

Robbie Henshaw is set to make his 99th appearance in blue, with Garry Ringrose starting alongside him in the centres.

James Lowe and Jamie Osborne will start on the wings while Hugo Keenan has been named at full-back.

Academy hooker Gus McCarthy has been named among the replacements, with Tadhg Furlong taking his place alongside Jack Boyle as the front row reinforcements.

Max Deegan, who was named Player of the Match after captaining Leinster to a first win in Durban over the Hollywoodbets Sharks last week, and Ryan Baird will also offer their services in reserve tomorrow.

The experienced duo of Luke McGrath and Ross Byrne will cover the half-back positions while Jordie Barrett completes the matchday 23.
