Player ratings as Ireland see off Greece with a superb second-half performance in Crete
by Mark McCadden · Irish MirrorThere were plenty of top performances for Ireland in the second-half of Friday's 4-0 Nations League win against Greece. Here is our verdict on Carla Ward's players.
Courtney Brosnan - Dealt comfortably with a couple of Greek shots in the first-half and was practically a spectator in the second. Was a calming figure during the half-time break. 7
Aoife Mannion - Had a shot off target during a rare foray forward in the first-half and was far more attack-minded after the break. 7
Jessie Stapleton - Scored a great goal and looked very comfortable in a back-four. A performance of real maturity by the West Ham youngster, who is currently on-loan at Sunderland. 8
Anna Patten - She made a huge block in the first-half as Greece dominated the opening 45, and didn’t have much to do from a defensive point of view in the second. 7
Megan Campbell - Greece made a couple of dangerous runs down Campbell’s flank in the first-half. The tight space between the sideline and the advertising hoardings made it difficult for her to wind up for her trademark long throws. 6
Tyler Toland - The Blackburn Rovers midfielder struggled to make her mark in a frustrating first-half for the Girls in Green. 6
Ruesha Littlejohn - She tried her best to stitch together play during a frustrating opening period, where Ireland’s play in transition was far too slow, but much improved after the break. 7
Denise O'Sullivan - Another superb display by the Corkwoman, particularly after the break when she deserved a goal of her own. 8
Lucy Quinn - Tried her luck in the first-half but didn’t catch the ball cleanly, and although she grew into the game in the second-half she was the least effective of Ireland’s attackers. 6
Kyra Carusa - She has a real poacher’s instinct, as evidenced by the San Diego Wave striker being in the right place at the right time to prod home the rebound after Kiernan’s shot was saved. 7
Leanne Kiernan - Unlucky not to score in the second-half, she was tasked with providing attacking width on the right and she produced one of the few decent attacking moments of the first-half with a smart turn and cross. 6
