Asian Games 2026 LIVE: India have started off the 11th day of the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya with a bang with Neeru Dhanda winning the country its fifth gold medal. Neeru had earlier joined forces with  Manisha Keer and Aashima Ahlawat to win India a silver medal in the team trap event. Meanwhile, in boxing Parveen Hooda and Ankush have won their bouts to enter the final while Narender Berwal lost his bout to bring home a bronze medal.  India’s day started with recurve archer Neeraj Chauhan defeating Republic of Korea’s Kim Je Deok, a multiple-time Olympic and world championship medallist.

It’s the final day of the athletics program and the day will see nine finals, all of which will feature an Indian athlete or team. Dev Kumar Meena and Kuldeep Kumar will feature in the pole fault final followed by Pooja and Supriya Basavaraju in the women’s high jump final. Double medallist Gulveer Singh and Avinash Sable will take part in the men’s 5000m final while Anushka Yadav and Tanya Chaudhary will be in the hammer throw event. Medals are up for grabs in the men’s and women’s 800m as well and also in men’s, women’s 4×400 and 4×100 mixed relay finals. Plus, Neeru, Manisha Keer, and Aashima Ahlawat and Shapath Bharadwaj, Kynan Chenai and Ahvar Rizvi will all look to qualify for the women’s men’s trap individual finals.

Narender Berwal (who won a bronze medal in the men's 90+kg weight class, was born on November 14, 1994 in Sorkhi village, Hisar district, Haryana, India, has established himself as one of India’s leading super heavyweight boxers through perseverance, discipline, and exceptional power inside the ring. After India won two medals in the men's javelin throw event on Monday evening, despite the absence of Neeraj Chopra (a two-time Olympic medallist and a two-time World Championships medallist), here's a look the Neeraj Chopra effect on India's javelin throwing scene.

As Nihal Koshie and Mihir Vasavda reported in January this year, From 2019 to 2024, the women’s participation in junior national javelin championships skyrocketed from 31 to 137, a staggering 125% spike. In men’s junior nationals in javelin, there was a 90% increase — from 39 in 2019 to 143 five years later. In these five years, the numbers in shotput — where India hasn’t won anything of note — fell from 54 to 38 in junior men and 62 to 39 in junior women.

She began shooting in 2013 after being selected for training at the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy and has since developed into one of India's leading shotgun shooters. Trained by Olympian Mansher Singh, Manisha has represented India at the ISSF World Championships, ISSF World Cups, and major continental competitions. In the India vs Iran women's team squash encounter, the Indians are ahead 2-0 at the moment. Tanvi Khanna gave the Indians the first point after winning against Narges Soltani. The encounter lasted just five minutes, with Tanvi needing four minutes to win the first game 11-5, before Soltani getting injured in the second game with the score at 3-0 in favour of Tanvi.

Up next, Anahat Singh, fresh from her silver medal in the individual event, took down Fereshteh Eghtedari 11-5, 11-4, 11-7.

Joshna Chinappa, who also won a bronze medal in the mixed doubles event, is currently out on court, attempting to wrap up the tie in quick-time agianst Iran's Najmeh. She leads by two games after winning 11-1, 11-3.

Asian Games Day 11 Live: UPSET ALERT

What a day for India in the archery ranges! Recurve archer Neeraj Chauhan has defeated a Republic of Korea's Kim Je Deok to enter the quarter-finals! At 22, Kim Je Deok is a three-time gold medallist at the Olympics between Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024. Of course his medals have come in the team and mixed events rather than individual. But given Korea's heft in archery, even making it to the Korean team is a massive statement of calibre of an archer.

And now, Neeraj Chauhan has taken him down. And how! The Indian won the first set and split points with a tie in the second. But in the third set, Kim levelled the scores at 3-3 and then the pair split points again in the fourth set. The final set was a nerve-wracking one, it was the only one where Neeraj did not start off with an x (that tiny spot in the dead centre of the target, right inside the 10 ring) while his opponent did. But Neeraj managed to seal the final set 29-27!

The sport has already fetched India three medals, with Chinappa winning yet another medal in mixed doubles while Anahat and Abhay Singh claiming silver medals in the singles events.

Asian Games Day 11 Live: Archery action coming up

The archers, just like most days recently, are starting us off! We have the recurve archers Dhiraj Bommadevara and Neeraj Chauhan starting us off in the 1/16 Elimination Round.

Dhiraj has already defeated Girvin Cullen Nigel Garcia of the Philippines 30-26, 29-28, 28-26 to claim the six set points on offer. Dhiraj advances to the pre-quarter-finals.

Neeraj is currently taking on Indonesia's Riau Ega Agata Salsabilla.

Vithya Ramraj beats PT Usha’s four-decade-old record for Asian Games bronze

For three years, Vithya Ramraj had lived with the knowledge that she had equalled a record that had stood for four decades.

At the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, she clocked 55.42 seconds in the 400m hurdles, matching PT Usha’s 1984 national record, the longest-standing in Indian athletics.

On Monday, in Nagoya, she finally went past it.
