IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Virat Kohli POTM

(How many PoTM awards does he have?) Honestly I have no idea. I send it to my mum in Gurgaon, she likes to keep them. If I look back at my whole journey then it is nothing short of a dream come true for me. I have always known my abilities, I have worked a lot for where I am today, God has blessed me with way too much and I have lot of gratitude in my heart, I feel proud. If I am being brutally honest then I am not thinking about the milestones, I would have gone hard if we were batting first, the experience does matter. The only thing was to get the team into a good position in the chase. The basic idea is I bat at number 3, I back myself to counterattack, I just walked in and felt I could put the opposition on the back foot. It is all different timings happens at different games, I don't feel good about it, it happens with MS as well, it is not a good feeling for the guy going out, it has been fine so far. I feel grateful for being put into this position, you can give happiness to so many people by playing this sport, putting smiles on people's face makes me smile.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Michael Bracewell after loss

We can be proud of our effort. Taking the number 1 team in the world to the last over was a pretty good effort. If we could have got 320-330 then it would have been the difference. I wish he could have bowled 15 overs, that's how good he was. We have some excellent batters in our unit, he has been doing it for a long time, if we had got a few more then things could have been different. We talk about match changing moments in the field, if we had taken those then it would have been different.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: KL Rahul after win

I don’t think the pressure really came in during the last 4-5 overs. Harshit did a terrific job as soon as he walked in. He took a lot of pressure off me with the way he struck the ball, and suddenly the chase became much easier. I stayed pretty calm towards the end. We weren’t chasing too many - around 6-7 an over - and at this level, that’s something you’re expected to chase down 9 out 10 times. I didn’t know he (Washington) couldn’t run. I knew he had a bit of an injury in the first innings, but I wasn’t aware of the extent. That said, he was striking the ball really well. When he came in, we were already going at about a run-a-ball, so there was no need to take unnecessary risks. There wasn’t too much pressure on him. He rotated the strike, and did his job. Everyone who walked in contributed and that made the difference. (did the pitch change?) Not really. I thought it played pretty much the same throughout the 100 overs. The new ball was the best time to bat on this wicket. The way Rohit started with Shubman, and then the partnership between Shubman and Virat, set the tone perfectly. They scored quickly and found the right tempo. If we’d gone at 4-5 an over early on, the chase later could’ve been 7-8 an over, which is always tough. The wicket did get a bit slower later, but the top-order did their job and made it much easier for the lower-order batters. (New Zealand fighting till the end) Absolutely. Ravi Bhai you’ve been here - you know how many close finishes there have been against New Zealand over the last 7-8 years. They never give up, and they always find a way to stay in the contest. That’s what makes India–New Zealand such an exciting rivalry.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: IND beat NZ by 4 wickets to take 1-0 in Vadodara

KL Rahul got back-to-back boundaries right in the end to close down this chase and take a 1-0 lead. It was a terrific fight back from New Zealand. Although they could have taken their chances, but not today. Kyle Jamieson has been the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand with the ball. Just when it seemed like India was running away with it, he came back with the second spell to pluck crucial wickets. And with the bat for India, it is that man again, Virat Kohli who played a brilliant innings. A spare of thought on Shubman Gill too who chipped in with few crucial runs when under pressure.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: 12 from 12

India needs 12 runs from 12 balls. They are taking it quite deeply. The shot-making has not been easy at all. It does seem like KL Rahul is looking for that one over which Bracewell has turned to himself, or a young leggie, or non-regular bowlers. Given how this pitch has played so far, it might not be a bad ploy for Bracewell to turn to Daryl Mitchell with his cutters.

There was a fairly long chat between Rahul and Washington after he took the single. Rahul has also changed his guard to middle and leg. Interesting few overs coming up

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: A six to savour

Rana slammed one through mid-wicket to ease the pressure. It was a slower one from Folkues, and Rana gave it an almighty heave, and it went deep into the stands, which did not bring the pressure down. It is an interesting innings from KL Rahul too at the other end. He has been happy to farm the strike to Rana and let him do all the hitting. This is getting quite tight here in Baroda. Halfway through the innings, it did seem like India would do in a cantor but not to be so. Credit must go to Jamieson for his brilliant spell.

Jan 11, 2026 09:05 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Tense

It is getting quite tense out there in the middle. A brilliant fightback this from New Zealand, they stayed in the game for a pretty long time hanging in by a thread, and now it does seem like they are slightly ahead. A wicket here will further affirm their dominance. It was their spinners who have not been able to deliver today, or else this might have been a different game altogether. As we update, Daryl Mitchell has split the opportunity with Harshit Rana here.

Jan 11, 2026 08:55 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Iyer falls

Shreyas Iyer too has departed here. It was knuckle delivery from Jamison, and the Iyer played a bit of nothing shot. He tried to work the ball on the leg-side for the single, but the issue there was that his bat and the ball were in different postcode. This is a cracking spell from Jamieson; he has mixed it up superbly. The cutters, the knuckle balls, the cross-seamers. Having just one ball after 34 overs is bringing bowlers more into the contest and making games more worthwhile to watch. Seems like we have a brilliant game in our hands.

Jan 11, 2026 08:44 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Two wickets in quick time

First, it was Virat Kohli who charged down the track and tried to hit over mid-off, but ended up giving a catch to the fielder there, and in the final ball, Ravindra Jadeja played a soft shot ot mid-on this time. It is sticking a bit on the surface here at the moment. This is an extremely important passage for both sides. KL Rahul has walked into the middle, and he needs to take this game deep. With only one ball from both ends, it will be harder to clear the ropes like in the years gone by. Rahul and Iyer have to play this smartly and keep their cool.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: What can NZ do?

One of the effective methods in which New Zealand can push for wickets here is by bowling slower ones and cutters. It is still a run-a-ball, and by modern standards, it is pretty much doable. But a wicket here will make it pretty difficult for the next batter to start on this surface. But how do they enforce now one? They can try and bring in an extra fielder in Foulkes, who has bowled the previous over, and bowled quite a bit of slower stuff to Shreyas Iyer, who did not middle the ball as he would have wanted. As we update, Virat Kohli has fallen here on 93.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Shankar Narayan pings from venue

Shreyas Iyer has not looked in discomfort against pace or spin. He has been helped by a eased out game situation, a bowling attack that has lacked consistency and a partner at the other end, who has not let his guard down since walking out to bat.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Tempo master

This has once again superbly paced innings from Kohli. He started with attacking intent and got to his half-century, and once Gill fell, he took the backseat, and his focus shifted more into building a partnership with Iyer. And once the latter got into his innings and the stage was set, Kohli yet again changed gears. With the experience he has in his career, every stage of those 50-overs will be on the back of his mind on how to construct the perfect innings and tread the perfect chase carefully.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Iyer slams Ashok

Iyer slammed Ashok in that previous over, which broke the shackles. Pressure was building on India, but a bit of aggression from Iyer and inexperienced bowling from Ashok did the trick. At this point in time, it is unclear what sort of leg-spinner he is. He is tossing a few up which do not have enough revs to beat the batter in the air, and at times he has tried to hit the pitch and rely on accuracy, but has ended up straying on the shorter side. He has not found that ideal length which will make batters think or wonder if they have to go forward or stay on the backfoot.

Jan 11, 2026 07:55 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Quiet passage

It has been a quiet passage for India since picking the wicket. The momentum of this innings has taken a hit. Also, the older ball here is keeping a tad bit low and sticking into the surface. And now that the leggie has picked up the wicket, Bracewell might end up giving him a bit of a spell. Jamieson, too, has been quite good. He will get the natural extra bounce, and this surface is keeping a bit low at times, so it is quite a bit of a challenge to deal with for the batters. And there also doesn't seem to be any dew on the outfield at this point.

Jan 11, 2026 07:45 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Shubman Gill falls

Shubman Gill has fallen here. It was a tossed-up delivery from Ashok, which he tried to hit through the covers and ended up looping the ball into the air to the long-off fielder. The bottom hand came into prominence for that brief moment. Sheyas Iyer has walked into the middle for India. A good opportunity for him coming in after an injury. There is not a lot of pressure in this chase, and he would be hoping to get a 60-70 run innings and remain not out to help India win this game. Virat Kohli at the other end will be hoping to continue his good run of form as well.

Jan 11, 2026 07:35 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: 50 for Gill

Shubman Gill has slammed a half-century here. A welcome 50 for the batter after what has transpired in the last few weeks. It was not easy for him initially. Jamieson did bowl a testing spell around that off-stump channel with the new ball, and he got the respect he deserved, and now he is reaping the rewards. If anything, he needs to make a 100 here. As per Kohli is continuing on his way. New Zealand has turned back to Ashok here. He did take a bit of pasting in that opening spell and would be hoping to get in a better spell here.

Jan 11, 2026 07:25 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: 50 for Kohli

50 for Virat Kohli here. The man is turning back the clock in this format of the game. It has been as fluent as it can be right from ball one, and in addition to that, it also has the new flair of aggression in his batting bow of arrows. He will be eyeing a century here, given the way he is batting at the moment. Shubman Gill at the other end, too, is closing in on his half-century here. The King and the Prince are doing it for India in the middle. New Zealand need to do something here to pick wickets, as it does seem like they have already thrown in the towel.

Jan 11, 2026 07:14 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Water break

This is now into India's dominance zone here chases at home with the top-order setting it up. Kohli is in, Gill is in, and as the script has been written many times before, one of them might end up scoring a 100 and make easy work of this. If New Zealand want to spoil what is written, they need to buy wickets somehow. The spinners have been ineffective, hence Bracewell might consider going back to pace for a few bursts, even Daryl Mitchell, who might extract something from this wicket.

Jan 11, 2026 07:04 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Spin not working

Spin so far has not worked out very well for New Zealand in this game. Their best chance to strike was with the new ball when Jamieson was operating altough he did manage to pick Rohit, they needed to get 2-3 wickets in a cluster to push India onto the backfoot. The batting is always going to get easier as the evening progresses under the lights, and Gill, who toiled hard early on, is reaping the rewards now. Kohli, too, has been quite sublime since walking into the middle, and it might be one of those India vintage chases.

STATS: Virat Kohli becomes fastest batter to reach 28,000 runs, breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s record

Virat Kohli continued his rampaging pursuit of breaking milestones as he reached 28,000 international runs during the first ODI against New Zealand in Vadodara on Sunday. He got the milestone by walloping a ball from Adithya Ashok past the New Zealand spinner.

The 37-year-old Kohli completed 28,000 runs across all formats, joining an exclusive club of batters which includes Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara. (Read more)

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Young leggie taken apart

The Indian batters have taken a liking to the young leg-spinner Ashok here in the middle and slammed him for a few boundaries. This is a proper test for the leg-spinner. He might have come across various conditions across New Zealand to ply his trade, but this is a different challenge completely. Gill and Kohli are quite good players of spin, and Ashok would have understood why that is in his couple of overs. And also the dew might start to set in, which might make it even tougher for Ashok to grip the ball.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Shankar Narayan pings from venue

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Attacking Kohli

Virat Kohli has walked into the middle and has got a couple of boundaries away early on in his innings. A noticeable thing with Kohli's approach of late is how quickly he is starting his batting innings today again he has looked to play a lot more attacking game, playing a few shots areally which is something one would not associate Kohli with. He takes his time intially and once he is set into his innings, he starts playing those aerial shots. And also the thing that is helping Kohli is this attack of New Zealand attack is quite an inexperienced one.

Jan 11, 2026 06:35 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Rohit Sharma departs

Rohit has fallen here, and once again, it is India's boogeyman, Kyle Jamieson, who picked up the wicket. It was a fuller one which Rohit tried to loft over the covers, giving himself the room, but somewhere at the point of contact, he did lose his shape, and the ball went high in the air and fielder Michael Bracewell took a pretty simple catch. And as one veteran walks back, another veteran walks into the ground in Virat Kohli. Just when it seemed like India were getting some momentum in this chase, New Zealand has picked up Rohit Sharma.

Jan 11, 2026 06:25 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Rohit changes gears

Since our last update, Rohit Sharma has changed gears here. He has taken the initiative to play a few more shots. The ball, which did move early on, has now stopped swinging and nibbling, and it is going in straight lines right now. Rohit Sharma has realised it is the moment to seize the opportunity, and he has done it quite brilliantly so far. While Shubman Gill at the other end, apart from that crisp cover-drive, he did have a tough time of it as he kept playing and missing a lot of deliveries around that off-stump channel.

Jan 11, 2026 06:15 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Watchful

It has been a pretty circumspect start for India. Both Gill and Rohit have played it quite measuredly so far, and also the Kiwi bowlers have been quite disciplined. One thing you will get from them, regardless of the quality of the attack, is discipline from the Kiwis and exceptional ground fielding. As we update, Gill drove one fiercely through the covers to break the shackles. It is a much-needed boundary for Gill as the Kiwi bowlers were building quite a bit of pressure on him with a few cracking deliveries.

Jan 11, 2026 06:05 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Jamison and Foulkes start

Kyle Jamison and Foulkes have taken the new ball for New Zealand, and there is a bit of nibble in the air. Jamison, in the past, has troubled the Indian batters, and if New Zealand has to win this game, he has to create the early breakthroughs here. Both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will be a bit wary to start with here as they will be well aware altough they start a bit on the slower side, once the dew starts to set in later in the innings, batting will get pretty easier, and this New Zealand attack does not have a lot of experience in it.

Jan 11, 2026 05:54 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Welcome back!

Both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are walking into the middle. There is quite a bit of natural light still left, and with lights partially in play, the ball might swing a bit for the Kiwi bowlers. It is a somewhat unknown attack for the Indian batters, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Jan 11, 2026 05:39 PM IST
IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Rohit and Kohli felicitated

A bit of a claustrophobia-inducing felicitation ceremony there for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma at the innings break. ICC chairman Jay Shah and BCCI president Mithun Manhas were present as Kohli and Rohit were asked to enter a literal closet from one side. They were then shut in it for a few seconds before the double doors on the other side was opened. They walked out, collected their bouquets and then walked off.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Summing up the Kiwi innings

India got their act together in the final 15 overs, conceding 120 runs for four wickets to restrict New Zealand to 300/8. The visitors' innings was built on a steady opening stand of 117 runs between Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls. But the real impetus was given by Daryll Mitchell, whose 84 off 70 balls helped them on the opening stand and reach the eventual score.

India’s bowlers struggled for a large part of the innings, but Mohammed Siraj emerged as the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets and conceding 40 runs in his eight overs. Washington Sundar did not bowl after the 20-over mark and was reportedly off the field due to a strain.

Both Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja had forgettable outings, as did Prasidh Krishna, which meant that despite bowling better in the second half of the innings, they were left to chase a tall score under the lights.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Daryl Mitchell talks

He was the top scorer for New Zealand with 84 runs in 71 balls. HEre is what he said: "As a group, we scrapped to that total and have given ourselves a total to defend. Hopefully, we'll get some early wickets. You always want more, we lost a couple of wickets in the middle, the wicket was on the slower side, so to get to 300 was nice. With the new ball, one ball from the 35th over makes it a bit softer and harder to score. That's the challenge of ODIs now, was just wishful more than anything (on his LBW review). We've got some young guys playing in India, the slower balls and cutters could work on this pitch."

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: New Zealand 300/8 in 50 overs

A bit of chaos at the end but New Zealand do get to 300, India need to chase down 301. We are going to have a proper contest now. Good rally at the end from the Kiwis after India dominated those middle overs.

14 runs taken from that last over by Prasidh Krishna, who ends up with figures of 2/60. Clarke edged the second ball over slips for four. The third ball was slashed wide of deep cover and the batters ran three. Jamieson then sends the fourth past mid on for four. Single next ball and then a scrappy two off the last.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: 4, 6, 3 and out! Mitchell falls to Prasidh

Mitchell made Prasidh see some lights there before finally falling. He walks across the stumps and scoops the first ball over short fine leg. Prasidh goes length next ball, Mitchell sees it coming from a mile away and smashes it over wide long on for a six. Prasidh goes short again, this time Mitchell gets a top edge that goes past fine leg for four. Prasidh then goes full, Mitchell misses his big swing across the line and the umpire raises his finger as soon as Prasidh appeals. Mitchell takes the review straightaway which made the on-air commentators think that he may have got a bat on it. But it was more because NZ have both their reviews left and Mitchell had done out of hope more than anything, his gestures as the review was underway showed that he knew he was gone. Sure enough, no bat and three reds.

Well New Zealand will be somewhat disappointed by where they are at the moment considering that their opening stand produced 117 runs. Their highest partnership since then is worth just 39 runs, which was between Bracewell and Mitchell. However, Mitchell has played himself in nicely and the Indians would know just how dangerous he can be this late in the innings.

Well Nicholls was starting to look like he wanted to accelarate, Rana seems to have used this and he is helped by some very sharp work behind the stumps by KL Rahul. Slower delivery fourth ball of the 22nd over, wide outside off. Nicholls reaches out for it, it takes an edge and KL Rahul dives low in front of him to take the catch.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Fifties for both Nicholls and Conway!

The pair go past the mark off consecutive deliveries. Nicholls punches Sundar's fifth ball of the 20th over to long off and takes a single to get to 50 in in 60 balls. His 16th in ODIs. Then Conway gives Sundar the charge and smashes the last ball inside out over cover. That takes him to 51 in 60 balls. What an opening partnership this has been from the Kiwis and there is an awful lot of silence right now in this ground.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Some fielding lapses compound India's problems

Kuldeep Yadav's second ball in the 19th over, Conway goes for a big slog sweep, it could have been going straight into the hands of Washington Sundar at deep backward square had he not been standing about 10 yards inside the boundary. Instead, he reaches up for it with a leap, it kisses his fingers and then goes straight over the boundary for a six. Conway plays the next ball to midwicket and then the ball goes straight up in the air, it lands safely between short fine and short third. Kuldeep looks at Conway with a wry smile, the latter returns it.

Nicholls on 47 off 57 at the end of that over, Conway on 45 off 57.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: The first drinks break of the match, New Zealand 79/0 in 16 overs

Nicholls is into the 40s, this opening partnership has carried on too serenely for India's liking. Nicholls in particular has kept moving about in his crease against both Prasidh and Sundar. He also managed an exquisite reverse sweep against Kuldeep for four, with the spinner bowling his first over in the 15th.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: New Zealand go past 50 in the 11th over

Conway and Nicholls look even more secure now than they did about 5 overs ago, when they were somewhat caught off guard by the odd ball that stayed low. Apart from that chance that Kuldeep Yadav dropped, India simply haven't made enough chances thus far.

Conway has moved to 32 off 40 balls, Nicholls on 29 off 38 balls.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Washington comes in as first change

Quite a few deliveries from Rana and Siraj have stayed quite low thus far, showing that the pitch could get sluggish as the day wears on. A few from both bowlers reaching KL Rahul on the half volley.

Washington Sundar to replace Mohammed Siraj now as first change. Nicholls and Conway have looked largely untroubled so far, which is a cause of worry for India. Nicholls on 13 off 21, Conway on 21 off 27.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: What the captains said...

Shubman Gill: We will bowl first. Honestly, try different kinds of combinations, you know, see what combination suits us the best for different conditions, obviously when we play in India. Whenever you're bowling second, there's a bit of a challenge with the dew, and so try out what kind of combination suits our condition the best. It looks like a good wicket. Hopefully, I think it'll be a little bit easier to bat on in the second innings with the dew coming in, and that was the thought process behind bowling first. I think playing a bit of VH series, everyone is coming after playing some matches, so everyone looks in good form. We've played a lot of cricket together, so you know, the environment is always nice and calm whenever we get together. We are going with six bowlers, with Washi, Jadeja and Kuldeep as the spinners, and Prasidh, Siraj, and Harshit the three pacers.

Michael Bracewell: It looks like a good surface, would have bowled first but I'm happy to be batting. We've been here for a little bit of time now. It's a big series for us. First of all, every time we play for New Zealand, that's a proud moment. And also here, you get used to the conditions here in India before the World Cup. It's a huge advantage to us. We're very much excited about this series. We're looking forward to it. It's always great to play here in India with the crowd and the fans. And it's a new experience for all the guys, but there's also a few experienced guys in the group. So we're certainly banking on that experience. Looks like a decent wicket. Maybe a little bit lower than some of the pitches in New Zealand. But we just have to be quick to adapt to the conditions. We've got Kristian Clarke making his debut today and Adithya Ashok is our main spinner.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: A men's international debut for Kotambi Stadium

And a return to men's international cricket for the city of Vadodara after 15 years. When India last played here, RCB were still considering whether to retain a young, promising player called Virat Kohli or not ahead of the IPL 2011 mega auction. That, though, was at the IPCL ground, which has hosted 10 men's ODI matches. The Kotambi Stadium, on the other hand, has hosted three women's ODI matches, all during the series between India and West Indies in December 2024.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Shubman Gill on India's schedule

Virat Kohli had very clear problems with India's schedule, Rohit Sharma did, and now here is Shubman Gill. When three consecutive captains speak about it, might it be time to do something about it? Maybe? Hmm? Anyhow, here is what Gill had to say about India's recent unforgiving schedule when he was asked if the BCCI had asked for his inputs on how they can improve in Tests:

"One of the suggestions that I was very keen on is, if you would see in the last two Test series that we played, we didn't have that much time to prepare," Gill said. "It's not easy playing another match in a different country and then playing in India on the fourth day. Especially when you're traveling on long tours.

"I feel even if we would have won the series against South Africa, it still wouldn't have made that much of a difference [in terms of adequate preparation] because we know we need to prepare well to be able to win Test matches all over the world. Preparation for me is really big, and I didn't think that we had that much time to prepare when we came back from Australia, or even after the Asia Cup when we played the West Indies series.

"I think it's important to at least have some bit of preparation, some time [to prepare]. Especially when changing from white-ball format to red-ball. So this was one of the things that I was very keen on, and I think we'll take some action and we'll keep it in mind to be able to prepare well before the start of any red-ball series."

"Maybe it would be easier to have a little loose calendar," Gill said. "I don't think in 2016, 2017, 2018, there was a time when if you're coming from another country [back] to India, you're playing a match on the fourth day. Maybe it's easier to play a match on the 10th day. Maybe it's easier to play a match on the 12th day. It gives a bit of breather for the players as well, and it gives you that time to prepare and feel confident for the next series."

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: A high-scoring series on the cards?

The word is we have a belter on the cards in Vadodara today. India are playing an ODI for the first time at this stadium and one is expecting a high-scorer. That could well be the theme of the series for the Indian batting contingent at least as the following games will be played in Rajkot and Indore, well documented for high-scoring games. India's right-handed, star-studded top 6 could relish batting and ironing out any chinks during these games.

IND vs NZ 1st ODI LIVE Score: Welcome

Welcome, folks! The Men in Blue gear up for their first match of the 2026 calendar year. This is going to be an interesting year across formats, even though there aren't a bevy of ODIs slotted for the first half of the year. The three games here could be all about solidity and consistency.

What makes KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer a MO force

While top-order batsmen often steal the spotlight in Indian cricket, the nation's most iconic victories have historically been built on the strength of a reliable middle order. From the 1983 heroics of Yashpal Sharma and Sandeep Patil to the versatile 2011 core featuring MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, and Suresh Raina, championship success has always required a solid spine.

After years of instability following the 2019 World Cup—where a fragile middle order proved to be India's undoing—the team has finally found a dependable duo in KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Their partnership has been transformative. READ More from Shankar Narayan
