Walkouts: Man, this arena is LIT. Place is rocking for the national anthems. And they don’t quiet down at all for the walkouts. I can only imagine what it’s like in there because that place seems insane right now.

Serrano is out first. Place goes crazy. Natti Natasha sings her out and the Knicks City Dancers accompany her. Pulling out all the stops for this thing.

Taylor out last, as the champion. No musical accompaniment for her, nor dance troupe. Just Taylor in her black and gold robe as she makes her way to the ring, entourage behind her. It’s almost time.

I cannot stress how insane this atmosphere is. This is as loud as I’ve heard an arena in years. The place is ready to go OFF. Let’s have fun.

Round 1: Serrano in white and red, Taylor in black and gold. Taylor in orthodox, Serrano in southpaw as they meet in the center and test the range with jabs. Very cautious start from both women, something different from the first two fights. Probing jabs, no commitment. The place continues to roar. 30 seconds left and I don’t think a punch has landed. Taylor holding the center as Serrano circles. I don’t think either woman landed an actual punch in the whole round.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-10.

Round 2: Only 3 punches landed in the first round per the stats. Sounds right. This round, Serrano comes out a little more urgent, taking space. She lands a left hand. Serrano definitely the one coming forward but neither woman committing yet. Both putting jabs out there but no connections. Looping left for Serrano lands behind a jab that came short. Taylor with a check hook over a jab. Serrano cutting the ring well now but Taylor fires a decent right hand.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Serrano, 20-19 Serrano overall.

Round 3: Serrano takes the center again. Taylor moving well. Still a slow burn in this one. Taylor moving and jabbing, Serrano jabbing her way in but can’t corner Taylor yet. Nice combo from Taylor as Serrano got caught in no-man’s land. Serrano tries to get it right back. Good counter from Taylor. Kinda leading Serrano around right now like in the first fight. Another very good combination from Taylor as Serrano came in. Serrano tried to retaliate but no joy.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Taylor, 29-29 overall.

Round 4: Serrano with less pressure this round, sitting in the long range. She’s pumping that jab but not getting home. Now Serrano coming forward. Taylor flurrying when Serrano does get in the strike zone. Still nothing major landing on either end, though Taylor having some moments. Serrano lands a good counter when Taylor pursues. Body shot from Taylor. Another razor close round.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Taylor, 39-38 Taylor overall.

Round 5: Serrano back on the lead with both women using the jab.Solid counter from Taylor. And again. Serrano with more pressure this round, trying to cut the ring but Taylor isn’t having it. Nice hook from Serrano. And a left but Taylor counters nicely. I don’t have a clue who is winning this fight and neither does the commentary booth. They are so evenly matched.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Serrano, 48-48 overall.

Round 6: Stats are almost dead even, which reflects this fight. Super tense atmosphere still. Taylor lands a sharp right hand. Serrano closing the ring now but every time she does, Taylor punches her way off. She’s doing a great job of landing when she’s backed up. Does it right there and doesn’t get hit by Serrano. Serrano lands twice this time though. Both women are scoring this round and Serrano lands a stinging jab just before the bell.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Serrano, 58-57 Serrano overall.

Round 7: Fight is so close. Taylor has a small cut under her right eye now. Taylor holding the center for now as Serrano moves around. Taylor with a good left. Serrano boxing on the outside isn’t her best avenue. She’s scoring when she closes the space. Taylor isn’t landing big at space, but landing a little more. Taylor snapping the jab and moving Serrano back now. Serrano comes forward near the end, but Taylor tags her on it.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Taylor, 67-67 overall.

Round 8: Circling in the center to start. This is another range round to start. Taylor with a decent right hand after Serrano overextends. Serrano now coming forward again behind the jab. Taylor moving around. Crowd getting a little restless. Serrano lands a nice left hook. Taylor got a little back with her own hook after. And then again. These two women are SO EVEN. Serrano putting the pressure on now and that may start swaying the judges.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Serrano, 77-76 Serrano overall.

Round 9: Neither woman should feel remotely confident right now. These two rounds could easily decide who wins. Gotta lay it all on the line right now.

Serrano pumping the jab. Taylor trying to stick that right hand down the middle. Neither woman going for the body anymore. Taylor putting jabs and right hands. Lands a decent counter as Serrano came in. Taylor fighting nice and long this round, putting shots down range and heading Serrano off. Serrano didn’t get much going this round and Taylor finishes with a left.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Taylor, 86-86 overall.

Round 10: Again, anyone’s fight. They need to leave it all out there.

Serrano with pep early, flashing the jab. Taylor turning her well and trying to pick Serrano off with straight shots at range. Body shot from Taylor then a counter up top. Serrano getting caught in space a bit. Taylor with a nice left hook. She’s not letting Serrano corner her. Both women punching in volume and Taylor has started landing that left hook at the end of combinations. She’s putting a stamp on this and Serrano cannot get inside. Taylor showing great movement. Digging in at the right time to back Serrano off. This is a great Taylor round to end it. Serrano cannot get to her and Taylor boxed her up.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Taylor, 96-95 Taylor overall.

OFFICIAL DECISION: Katie Taylor def. Amanda Serrano via majority decision (97-93, 97-93, 95-95)

Post Fight: The crowd is incredibly loud. The Irish are making themselves known. Taylor thanks the crowd and Serrano, celebrating that they’ve made history three times together. Serrano comes and hugs Taylor. Taylor says she thought she was boxing well and felt good about her chances of winning, but admits it’s “always hard” when she’s fighting Serrano. Taylor really gives Serrano props.

Serrano now comes to speak, says she tried something different. She was trying to keep her distance because “fighting with her” didn’t work in the first two fights. She’s upset. Her team told her she won, she says, but she’ll have to go back. Then she shouts out the crowd for supporting women’s boxing. Serrano crying a bit, a little emotional.

We go back to Taylor who refuses to say if she’s retiring, but says she doesn’t want to fight Amanda Serrano again, “she punches too hard.”
