UFC Kansas City video: Randy Brown faceplants Nicolas Dalby with brutal knockout after destroying his nose
by Damon Martin · MMA FIGHTINGRandy Brown scored the most emphatic finish of his career after he faceplanted Nicolas Dalby with a brutal knockout punch in the second round at UFC Kansas City.
In a highly entertaining war between the welterweights, Brown actually set the tone early when he clipped Dalby with a short hook that absolutely twisted his nose to the other side of his face. Somehow, Dalby’s coaches managed to snap the nose back into place between rounds but none of that mattered in the end.
With both fighters swinging heavy leather, Brown stepped into a punch that absolutely blasted Dalby and sent him crashing face first to the canvas as the referee rushed in to immediately stop the fight. The end came at 1:39 in the second round as Brown earned the jaw-dropping knockout victory.
“It feels good,” Brown said about the knockout. “It feels good knowing I can take on such a veteran as Dalby and show what I’m about. I’m too fast, too big, too slick, too good. I’m going to be a problem for all these motherf*ckers.”
The knockout was that much more impressive considering Dalby made it 15 years and more than 30 fights into his career without ever being finished until Brown put him away on Saturday.
While Brown did control the majority of the fight, Dalby still made a good account for himself after he scored a knockdown of his own in the opening round after his nose was already mashed and leaking blood like an open faucet. Dalby did his best to take advantage but Brown survived to reset to the second round.
That’s when Brown effectively invited Dalby into a slugfest and he definitely won that contest after he delivered the fight-finishing blow that got the Kansas City crowd on its feet.
Now 4-1 in his past five outings, Brown is hoping this latest win gets him consideration for a top 15 opponent as he moves forward in 2025.
