Jerome Boateng takes up first coaching job

Former Manchester City and Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has taken up a new coaching role.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Boateng has agreed to join Trabzonspor as an assistant coach.

The move comes after Boateng announced his retirement from professional football on September 19, 2025, at the age of 37.

The former Germany international enjoyed the most successful part of his playing career at Bayern Munich.

He won several trophies with the German club, including nine German league titles, two Champions League titles and five DFB Cup trophies.

Boateng also won the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil with Germany.

During his career, he also played for Hertha BSC, Hamburger SV, Olympique Lyon, US Salernitana and LASK.
