Jordan Ayew expected in Black Stars squad for AFCON qualifiers – Report

Jordan Ayew is expected to be included in the Black Stars squad for this month’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The 34-year-old captained Ghana at the 2026 World Cup in North America and is currently without a club after leaving Leicester City following their relegation to League One.

Ayew made 42 Championship appearances for Leicester during the 2025-26 season, scoring six goals and providing three assists. He started 24 league games.

The former Aston Villa and Swansea City forward was linked with Cypriot club APOEL Nicosia and English Championship side Blackburn Rovers, but both clubs have denied showing interest in him.

Ayew is now expected to join Championship side Sheffield United as a free agent.

He is expected to be unveiled on Friday, September 11, the same day he turns 35.
