Kofi Adams opens up on total amount spent on 2026 World Cup spectator tickets
by Ayeh Offei-Akoto · MyNewsGh.comGhana spent about $1.26 million on 2,922 spectator tickets for the Black Stars’ three group-stage matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Iddie Adams has told Parliament.
Adams disclosed the figure when he appeared before Parliament’s Select Committee on Youth and Sports to account for Ghana’s participation in the tournament, which was held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The Buem MP said the tickets were bought for Ghana’s group-stage matches against Panama, England and Croatia.
According to the minister, 948 tickets were purchased for the opening game against Panama, 1,000 for the match against England and 974 for the final group game against Croatia.
This brought the total number of tickets to 2,922.
“We spent about $1.26 million on the procurement of the 2,922 tickets,” Adams told the committee.
