Updates on Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz

Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Iddie Adams disclosed this when he appeared before Parliament’s Select Committee on Youth and Sports to brief the committee on Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation have agreed to keep the Portuguese coach after he guided the Black Stars to the knockout stage of the 2026 World Cup in North America.
Some members of Queiroz’s backroom staff are already in Ghana as preparations begin for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The 73-year-old coach is expected to meet Minister Kofi Adams before his official unveiling, with his new contract expected to be formalised after his return.
Queiroz will now focus on Ghana’s bid to qualify for the 2027 AFCON after the Black Stars missed the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
Ghana will begin their qualifying campaign away against Côte d’Ivoire at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké on September 24.
