Former Ghana striker Inaki Williams has entered the history books at Athletic Bilbao after becoming the club’s fifth most capped player following their 1-1 draw against Elche in La Liga.

The Spain-born striker made his 515th appearance for the La Liga club on Saturday, September 12, 2026, just 24 hours after announcing his retirement from international football.

Williams marked the occasion by scoring the goal that helped Athletic Bilbao secure an important point at San Mames.

He reached the milestone after passing Joseba Etxeberria, who made 514 appearances for the club.

The players ahead of Williams on the list are Txetxu Rojo with 541 appearances, Iker Munian with 560, Oscar de Marcos with 573, while legendary goalkeeper Jose Angel Iribar leads the list with 614 matches for the Rojiblancos.

“Iñaki Williams enters the TOP-5 of matches with Athletic Club 515 official games as a lion. And the remaining ones. Congratulations, Williams,” Bilbao posted on social media.
