Ballon d’Or 2026: Kily Gonzalez predicts winner

Inter Miami head coach Kily Gonzalez has backed captain Lionel Messi to win the Ballon d’Or this year.

Gonzalez said there is no other player like Messi and believes the Argentine deserves the award.

“There is no other like him. I have no doubt that the Ballon d’Or has to go to him,” Gonzalez said (via SPORT).

“With the age he is, the World Cup he did, what he represents for everyone, not only in football, but also in life values. It should be fair for him to take it.”

Messi led Argentina to the 2026 World Cup final, where they lost 1-0 to Spain.

The 39-year-old scored eight goals and provided four assists during the World Cup.
