Eric Sekou Chelle appointed coach of Super Eagles

Reports indicate that former head coach of the Mali national team, Eric Sekou Chelle has been appointed as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

Eric Sekou Chelle has been tasked with qualifying Nigeria for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles haven’t been without a substantive coach since Jose Peseiro announced his decision to step down as coach after leading the Super Eagles to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations but failed to win.

Coaches such as Findi George were appointed in the interim but failed to live up to the billing and had to resign after a poor run of games.
