Tahiti United lost their lead twice in their OFC Pro League match on Saturday, ending with a 2-2 draw against South Island United in Melbourne.

Having led 1-0 at halftime and 2-1 in the second spell, the Tahitian side could not keep the South Islanders away.

Ryan Feutz came off the bench to score twice, as South Island United secured a point in the entertaining encounter at Olympic Park.

The day looked promising for Sam Garcia's Tahiti United but they just could not finish off with the full three points, their goalmouth broken twice as South Island United stuck to their guns, and claimed a draw in the end.

A header from Germain Haewegene, powering home from a Bradley Ruiz corner-kick, in the first half saw the side lead 1-0 after the first 45-minute spell.

They should have doubled that lead but Joseph Athale shot over the bar from the edge of the penalty box.

Even captain Teanoui Tehau could have added another but South Island United goalkeeper Steven van Dijk was equal to the occasion, and saved what would have been another cause of celebration for Tahiti United.

South Island's Feutz made his impact soon after play resumed in the second spell.

He scored the equaliser after he received the ball inside the penalty box, turned and placed the ball to the corner of the net.

Tehau sent Tahiti United back into the lead with his side's second goal.

However, Feutz scored his second for the South Islanders and tied the game.

The draw leaves South Island United on nine points, sitting at third on the table, while Tahiti United is on six points.

The second game on Saturday evening saw South Melbourne FC take on Auckland FC.

Round three continues on Sunday, with Bula FC from Fiji against Vanuatu United FC, in a rematch of the league's very first game in Auckland.

Sunday's second match will be between Solomon Kings FC and PNG Hekari FC.
