Try doubles from Quinn Tupaea and Kyren Taumoefolau have spearheaded the Chiefs to a 42-14 Super Rugby Pacific rout over NSW Waratahs.

Leading 23-7 at halftime, the Chiefs ran away with the match, outscoring the Aussie side six tries to two.

The Waratahs looked threatening early, but the Chiefs forward power and attacking flair extinguished their hopes.

Recording their fifth win of the season, Johnno Gibbes' side sit third on the Super Rugby Pacific standings, behind the Hurricanes and Blues halfway through the season.

First-five Josh Jacomb had an off night with the boot at FMG Stadium, missing three conversions in an otherwise seamless showing from the home side in Hamilton.
