Nigeria set to face Morocco
Nigeria prepared for the match against Algeria in the quarter-final, with host nation national team Morocco, awaiting them in the semi-final.
The Super Eagles toppled Algeria to prevent a North African affair between Morocco and their neighbours reaching the last four for the 12th time in the last 13 attempts.
As noted by NFF, the match is scheduled for Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat at 9pm Nigerian time.
Eric Chelle looks forward to Morocco clash
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle was delighted with the results and his team's performance, during what he described as a deserved win over Algeria.
“The victory we achieved against Algeria was deserved. The match was fantastic, and I am very happy with the win,” he told CAF Online.
“The Nigerian players are very happy, and I am extremely proud of them. We really enjoyed the match. My vision has been implemented in the Nigerian team, and we must continue working in this manner.”
The manager quickly put behind the win and celebrations, shifting focus to facing Morocco who are the host nation of the competition.
“Morocco is a strong team, and there will be pressure in front of the host nation. The best team will win. I am proud that we will face Morocco, and I hope it will be a good match, with the best team winning,” he concluded.
The Super Eagles will need to work harder against the Atlas Lions as they are one of the best teams in this year's tournament, with a balanced squad around the pitch.
Moroccans were happy for Nigeria’s victory over Algeria, not because they wanted to face Nigeria, but were happy their bitter rivals Algeria was eliminated.
CAF sends message to Akor Adams
Legit.ng reported that CAF sent a message to Akor Adams, who also got on the scoresheet alongside the Galatasaray forward.
The African football governing body applauded Akor’s goal celebration, in which he posed like DR Congo superfan Mboladinga who had been depicting former prime minister Patrice Lumumba.
