Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos hailed Tshepang Moremi's impact off the bench as the team defeated Angola in their Africa Cup of Nations opener on Monday.

Goals from Oswin Appollis and Lyle Foster guided South Africa to a 2-1 victory over their COSAFA rivals.

Broos admitted he was not happy with the team's performance before changing things around during the halftime break.

“We tried to avoid that because if you’ve lost the game today then you have Egypt then you are in big trouble, but I wasn’t pleased with the game we played in the first half and just the moment we led 1-0 and then we fell asleep,” Broos told SABC Sport after the game.

“We let Angola come back in the game so we put something right during halftime and then you see the second half, we make more pressure and there’s more movement in the team and we had chances and this is what I want.

Moremi was introduced at halftime and made a great impact as he had a goal disallowed while he picked up the assist for Foster's winner.

“Tshepang did wonderful coming in the team, suddenly there was speed in our team, we were dangerous we scored goal which was offside, I don’t know what happened there," Broos added.

"But yes, he was a threat for our opponents and he did it very well in the 45 minutes he played,” Broos said.
