India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav admitted that he was not hurt by his exclusion from the 15-member squad for the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025. "Why hurt? It's about accepting it. If you see the squad, it's really looking good," Suryakumar Yadav was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
Suryakumar, who last played a 50-over match during the ICC World Cup 2023, was not picked in India's squad for the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025. Suryakumar's last ODI appearance came in the World Cup final in Ahmedabad, where he managed to score only 18 runs in 28 balls.
Former World No. 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav has failed to replicate his 20-over success in ODI cricket. Suryakumar has scored only 773 runs at an average of 25.76 in 37 ODIs. India's T20I captain has failed to score a single hundred in the 50-over format. He started his ODI career on a promising note but failed to seal a spot in India's squad due to a high-risk playing style and the lack of a consistent batting position.
Suryakumar was picked in India's squad for the home World Cup in 2023 but did not have very impressive returns with the bat. However, the 34-year-old batter is one of the leading batters in the T20I format, with 2,570 runs in 78 T20Is and four hundreds at a strike rate of 167.86.
