Abhishek Sharma has broken the record for the highest individual score by an Indian batter in T20Is as he scored 135 runs in 54 balls to put the England bowlers to the sword. Abhishek went past the previous record of Shubman Gill, who had scored 126 in Ahmedabad against New Zealand. Abhishek hit 13 sixes and 7 fours in his incredible that got the Wankhede stadium on its feet.
Abhishek broke a host of records as he made his way to his hundred, including the one for most sixes by an Indian in a T20I. The previous record was held by Rohit Sharma, who had hit 10. The left-handed batter was a bit subdued in the series after his 79 off 34 balls in the Kolkata T20I. Abhishek was out to make amends in Mumbai as he scored the second-fastest fifty by an Indian and the fastest at home when he reached the landmark in 17 balls.
After this, Abhishek kept going in one gear and kept bludgeoning the bowling and went on to score his hundred in just 37 balls, the second-fastest by an Indian in T20Is. After reaching the landmark, the opener did show signs of slowing down a bit as Shivam Dube played a good cameo to ensure the team coasted to 200 runs.
Once Rinku was dismissed, Abhishek would start to go after the bowlers once again and took a liking to Adil Rashid.
