IND vs ENG: Arshdeep breaks Chahal's record, becomes India's leading T20I wicket-taker

Arshdeep Singh broke Yuzvendra Chahal's record to become India's leading wicket-taker in T20 internationals. The left-arm fast bowler picked two wickets in his first spell in the first T20I of a five-match series against England in Kolkata on Wednesday, January 22.

Arshdeep did not take long to strike as he removed Phil Salt in the first over with a shap bouncer. He then got the wicket of Ben Duckett, who was starting to look dangerous, in the third over.

Arshdeep has the opportunity to become one of the fastest to get to 100 T20I wickets in the world. Rashid Khan of Afghanistan currently holds the record for the fastest man after having got to the milestone in his 53rd match.

Arshdeep made his T20I debut as recently as 2022. He has evolved to become one of the finest fast bowlers in the shortest format of the game. The Punjab pacer was rewarded for his consistency in T20Is with a place in India's Champions Trophy squad.

Arshdeep went past Bhuvneshwar Kumar to become India's leading wicket-taker in a T20I series in South Africa last year. The left-arm pacer picked 8 wickets in four matches, playing a key role in India's series win.
